Varka and Gülşah is a unique work in the form of an illustrated manuscript that has survived from the Anatolian Seljuks to the present day.
The world's only copy of Varka and Gülşah, which consists of a love story full of intrigues and wars written by Sheikh Ayyuki in the 11th century and miniatures drawn in the 13th century, is located in the Topkapı Palace Museum.
Nörofilm Prodüksiyon, having obtained a special permit, has started documentary film work on this unique story and priceless, magnificent miniatures, having obtained copies of them. With the Varka and Gülşah Documentary Film, this unique work is being brought to light as a film for the first time, 10 centuries after it was written.
Varka and Gülşah also holds the distinction of being the oldest surviving illustrated example of Persian Masnavis in world history. This uniquely valuable story and colorful miniatures, forgotten in the dusty pages of history, will be presented to world audiences with a poetic cinematic narrative without touching their original beauty. In the story, love, heroism, conspiracies, and war scenes are intertwined. The colors and dynamism used in the miniatures take us on various interesting adventures.
In addition to dynamic war scenes, the figures' body movement reactions to the events they experience and their facial expressions during emotional shifts in events are unique. In the documentary film, the dramatic narration of the story's couplets will be voiced by famous theater actors. The Varka and Gülşah Documentary Film, with its specially composed original music, will take the viewer on an unforgettable visual journey.
The Varka and Gülşah Documentary Film, produced by the renowned producer-director Fehmi Gerçeker, who has introduced Mevlana from the 13th century and Piri Reis from the 16th century to the world through his documentary films, will be in Turkish, English, Persian, Arabic, and various other languages. The film's first premiere gala will be held in Istanbul's Topkapı Palace, followed by special premiere galas in Istanbul and Ankara.
Abroad, special screenings of the film will be organized in the USA (New York, Los Angeles), European countries (London, Paris, Berlin), and the Middle East (Dubai and Doha). After the special screenings, the Varka and Gülşah Documentary Film will be distributed to world televisions. Later, the film's distribution will be provided to educational institutions (libraries, universities, etc.) in various countries, primarily the USA.
Furthermore, studies will be carried out with UNESCO, Paris, regarding the inclusion of Varka and Gülşah in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
